Greatness Dies

Greatness my smallest hamster died today.
It was really really thin and harly ate anything and it was blind.
I couldn't bring it to the vet because it was closed and the next morning I woke up and it was dead. I buried it in my back garden poor thing!!!!!

Caring For Hamsters.

First if all you have to feed the hamsters about 2 or 3 times a day.
You can buy food for them in your pet shop were u bought them/it.
And you can give them treats about 2 or 3 times a week. They would eat any fruit or vegtebales but you should not give them meat or sugar. They also can eat grass.
Hamsters store food in there mouth and bring them to were the sleep. Do not worry about them doing this.

You also need to change your hamster cage once a week. Or else they will get sick.
You can buy the shavings in the pet shop. Make sure that your hamsters is comfortable and put it in a place were it cant escape while changin the cage.

You can buy toys for your hamster in a pet store. Toys like a running ball are good exersice for your hamster. And also if a wheel didnt come with the cage you can also buy that in a pet shop.

If You get a hamster you will need to buy a cage! Here are some good ideas of cages :

This one is a good one if u have alot of hamsters and you are planning for them to get babies. It is not really nessesary to buy if u only have 5 hamsters or less.



This one is a good idea if u have 1 hamster and dont want to buy more. It takes a really short time to change it so its good ifu have hamster.





This hamster cage is for 3 hamsters maximum and its is a girly one. It is a good hamster cage.

What Are hamsters?

Hamsters are mammals which belong to the rodent family having large incisor teeth that are continually growing necessitating gnawing to prevent the teeth from overgrowing. The word 'rodent' is derived from the latin word 'rodere' which means 'to gnaw'.

Hamsters form the Family Cricetidae which is broken down into different Genera (including Cricetulus, Phodopus and Calomyscus). Within each Genera are various species of hamster. There are many different species of hamsters throughout the world and most hamsters inhabit semi-desert areas where they live in burrows. These burrows consist of many tunnels and separate chambers including chambers where the hamster will store food and sleep. Hamsters are nocturnal, sleeping during the hot days and waking in the cooler evenings. They have very poor eyesight but a keen sense of smell and excellent hearing.

Most species of hamsters have expandable cheek pouches in which they can carry food and bedding back to their burrow where they will store food. The word 'hamster' comes from the German word 'hamstern' which means 'to hoard'.

Only a few hamster species are widely kept as pets but the hamster is the most popular of the smaller rodents kept as a pet in many countries today.

My hamsters.

I think My hamsters are very cute and I like them alot. They are big type of hamsters and there names are Katey, Greatness, Gorgess and last but not least Goodness. Sometimes my hamsters fight each other ( even thought there sister exept katey she is the mother ) Which I dont like because they always get hurt. So this is what I do when they fight I put them in a bucket for a night and put them back in the cage the next day and they stop to fight. But that plan dosnt work anymore so I bought a new hamster cage to put one hamster to live in there 4 ever even though I do let her play with the other hamsters ofr a while. But for anything my hamsters do I still love them!

This hamster looks like a cow because it is black and white. Iv never had a black and white hamster.Or I never saw one in reall life.

My favourite hamster

I like ginger hamsters with black eyes and very small ones and on top of them very dark ginger.I also like hamsters that can stay still for around 25 seconds because some hamsters cant stay still for 5 seconds . I LOVE hamsters when thay climb there cage(Most of them do anyways)
